Make your Fracking Comments
9 am - 5 pm, Thursday, November 17
New Mexico Oil Conservation Commission
1220 South St. Francis Drive, Santa Fe
Porter Hall in the Wendell Chino Building
The New Mexico Oil Conservation Commission is meeting to determine future rules for fracking. You can participate in the hearing and provide oral testimony during the public comment period.
Currently, 95% of all oil and gas wells are fracked. Most oil and gas wells are fracked several times over the life of the well.
States have the authority to require disclosure.
The NM Oil and Gas Association has proposed a weak rule that only requires companies to disclose about half of the contents of fracking fluids 45 days after a fracking operation.
The Earthworks Oil & Gas Accountability Project has proposed that 1) landowners should be notified about fracking prior to the operation, 2) all fracking fluids be reported.
