Solar Financing via 3rd Parties Signed into Law

Solar PV installation

Governor Bill Richardson signed into law HB181/SB190 that provide solar financing via 3rd parties. This new law will directly benefit municipalities, schools, and other tax-exempt organizations that want to install solar energy systems.

By using 3rd party financing, these entities can take advantage of federal tax credits and thus reduce the cost of the system. This source of financing will stimulate new green jobs as most of the cost of a solar system is local.

The Sierra Club, in conjunction with the Coalition for Clean and Affordable Energy (CCAE), played a key role in getting this new financing approach passed.
