Tree Plantings with the Navajo Ojo Encino Chapter

Torreon Wash Volunteers

10am Saturday, April 10
Ojo Encino Chapter

The Navajo Ojo Encino Chapter has invited us to join them Saturday, April 10, at 10 am at the Chapter House, in planting cottonwood poles, willows, and other native vegetation along the river banks of the Rio Puerco at Torreon Wash. For more information, riogrande.chapter@sierraclub.org or 505-983-2703.

Les Drapela will be the Sierra Club outings leader for the day.

Chapter members are invited to two tree plantings along the Torreon Wash of the Rio Puerco! Come join the fun and renew or meet our coalition partners on the Rio Puerco Management Committee. This is an opportunity to greet spring, dig in the dirt, and laugh with wonderful partners as we restore and rebuild this important watershed.

It’s awesome to see the result at the end of one day’s planting. There’s something thrilling to return months later to see green leafy trees and the foundations for a healthier watershed. Using an auger we will be planting hundreds of trees. It’s fun, it’s easy, and you couldn’t ask for better company.

We will be carpooling from Santa Fe and Bernalillo. Detailed directions and more information will be sent to you once you’ve reserved your place.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
